Electric Vehicles

Transportation activity is the source of one quarter of Canada's total greenhouse gas emissions. Nearly one-half of these emissions are produced by personal vehicles.

Envida Community Energy believes that the adoption of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and electric vehicles (EV) will play a large role in helping the community of Guelph reach its greenhouse gas targets.

As the key implementer of projects under the Community Energy Plan, Envida Community Energy has an important role to play acting as a catalyst and encouraging the community to explore electric vehicle technology.

In the winter of 2012, Guelph Hydro installed an electric vehicle charging station at Stone Road Mall in Guelph. Electricity for this pilot project is supplied free of charge to users by Envida Community Energy.
